As a citizen of a conflict-ridden, war-torn and poor country with limited access to proper post-secondary education, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to study, write and research Buddhism, a subject very dear to my heart, as a layperson in an academic institution. It is a privilege I do not take lightly that I am now realizing my dream of studying and writing on Buddhism, though not without its hurdles and hardships.
